Qatar Economic Forum 2025
Description

The 2025 Qatar Economic Forum, powered by Bloomberg and organized in collaboration with Media City Qatar, convened from May 20 to 22 at the Fairmont Hotel in Doha. Marking its fifth edition, the forum brought together over 1,500 global leaders, including heads of state, CEOs, investors, and policymakers, to deliberate on pressing economic and geopolitical issues.

Theme & Pillars

Under the overarching theme, “The Road to 2030: Transforming the Global Economy,” the forum focused on five key pillars:

  • Geopolitics, Globalization & Trade: Examining the evolving dynamics of global trade and the strategic transformations within GCC economies.

  • Business & Investment Outlook: Discussing strategies for achieving market growth amidst global economic challenges.

  • Energy Supplies & Security: Addressing the global energy landscape, including oil, gas, and the transition to renewable sources.

  • Technology Hype & Reality: Exploring the real-world applications of emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence.

  • Sports & Entertainment: Analyzing the investment opportunities and disruptions within the sports and entertainment industries.

Major Announcements and Highlights

  • Qatar Investment in the U.S.: The Qatar Investment Authority announced plans to invest an additional $500 billion in the United States over the next decade, focusing on sectors such as artificial intelligence, healthcare, and data centers. 

  • Boeing Aircraft Order: Qatar Airways placed a historic order with Boeing for up to 210 wide body aircraft, including 130 787 Dreamliners and 30 777-9s, marking the largest wide body order in Boeing's history. 

  • Gift of Boeing 747-8 Jet: Qatar offered a $400 million Boeing 747-8 jet to the United States, intended for use as Air Force One. The gesture sparked discussions regarding its implications and was addressed by Qatar's Prime Minister during the forum.

The forum hosted over 2,500 participants from more than 100 countries, featuring numerous panels, breakout sessions, and roundtable discussions. Topics ranged from global investment strategies to the future of energy and technology.

As the world navigates complex challenges, the forum underscored Qatar's role in shaping the future of the global economy.
