Second Global Forum on Transboundary Waters
Description

The forum serves as a critical platform to enhance dialogue and drive collective action around the sustainable management of shared freshwater resources. Co-hosted by major stakeholders including the World Bank and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the forum convened policymakers, practitioners, scientists, and civil society actors to exchange experiences, strengthen partnerships, and explore practical strategies for cooperative governance of transboundary rivers, lakes, and aquifers. With an emphasis on aligning efforts to achieve SDG 6.5, participants addressed pressing themes such as transboundary water cooperation mechanisms, climate adaptation, data-sharing, and the expansion of operational agreements covering shared basins, all in service of ensuring equitable water security through international collaboration.
