The 2025 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development will take place from Monday, 14 July to Wednesday, 23 July 2025, with the ministerial segment held from 21 to 23 July. Convened under the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the forum is the UN’s central platform for reviewing global progress on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
This year’s theme is:
“Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals for leaving no one behind.”
The 2025 forum will conduct in-depth reviews of five Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
SDG 3 – Good health and well-being
SDG 5 – Gender equality
SDG 8 – Decent work and economic growth
SDG 14 – Life below water
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the goals
The event will bring together government ministers, UN agencies, academics, civil society, and other stakeholders to explore concrete solutions and partnerships for sustainable development. Countries will also present their Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) to showcase national progress and challenges.
A wide range of side events, VNR Labs, exhibitions, and special sessions will be held alongside the forum to encourage collaboration, innovation, and peer learning.
