E-Mentorship for Girls in ICT
Description

To celebrate International Girls in ICT Day 2026, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is hosting a global online mentorship event bringing together mentors, girls, and young women to explore the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in agrifood systems. Under the theme “AI for Development: Girls Shaping the Digital Future,” this initiative aims to empower young women to engage with emerging technologies and contribute to closing the digital gender gap.

Taking place on April 23, 2026, the event will feature a two-hour virtual mentorship session where participants can learn directly from experts across the private sector, academia, and UN agencies.

What You Will Gain:

  • Learn about the applications of AI in agrifood systems and its role in sustainable development

  • Hear from experts about their career journeys, insights, and experiences in AI and related fields

  • Engage in an interactive Q&A session with professionals from diverse sectors

  • Strengthen your understanding of the intersection between technology, agriculture, and gender

  • Receive a certificate of participation upon completing the session

Who Can Join:

  • Young women aged 18–25

  • Are interested in technology, agriculture, or their intersection

  • Are currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary (university or vocational) program

  • Have a motivation to learn about AI applications in agrifood systems

  • Are able to participate fully in the mentorship session and engage actively

  • Are proficient in English

Why Join:

This mentorship opportunity offers a unique space for young women to explore how AI is shaping the future of agrifood systems while connecting with experts and peers from around the world.
