The fifth edition of the Ecological Threat Report evaluates ecological risks across 207 independent states and territories. Covering 3,518 sub-national areas that represent 99.99% of the global population, the report addresses key challenges such as food insecurity, water scarcity, natural disasters, and demographic pressures.
Employing a multi-layered approach, the analysis spans national, subnational, and city levels while also assessing the interplay between ecological threats and societal resilience. By juxtaposing ecological risks with measures of societal stability, the report identifies the regions, countries, and local areas most vulnerable to ecological disasters both today and in the future.
