Patient safety is a crucial aspect of healthcare quality, yet adverse events remain a persistent threat despite medical advancements. While mixed-method studies are valuable in understanding safety culture, there is limited practical evidence on patient safety culture and its influencing factors in Ethiopia. This study aimed to evaluate patient safety culture and its determinants among healthcare professionals in public hospitals in Bahir Dar City, Northwest Ethiopia.
A cross-sectional study, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative approaches, was conducted from March 10 to April 10, 2022. A stratified sampling method was used to select 420 participants from three public hospitals
The study concludes that patient safety culture in the examined hospitals is below the desired standard. To improve safety, it is crucial to enhance resource availability, offer ongoing patient safety training, strengthen communication systems, and create a more supportive management environment.
