From Crisis to Recovery: Local Authorities Confronting Post-War Realities in Lebanon
Description
|

The UNDP report "From Crisis to Recovery: Local Authorities Confronting Post-War Realities in Lebanon" (2025) assesses the impact of recent hostilities on Lebanese municipalities, highlighting displacement, infrastructure damage, and worsening socio-economic conditions. Conducted in 135 affected areas in December 2024, the report finds that widespread internal displacement has strained local resources, while damage to roads, schools, and healthcare facilities has severely limited access to essential services. The conflict has also intensified economic hardship, increasing unemployment and poverty. Immediate recovery priorities include restoring infrastructure, providing humanitarian aid, and implementing economic revitalization programs. The report calls for a coordinated recovery effort involving local authorities, national agencies, and international partners to address Lebanon’s post-war challenges effectively.
