Revisiting Sankara’s Development Model: Policy Insights for Africa
Description
enmaeya |Nov. 27, 2025

Revisiting Sankara’s Development Model: Policy Insights for Africa (2025) was prepared by Enmaeya's Knowledge Hub to help policymakers, researchers, and development practitioners understand the strengths and limitations of Thomas Sankara’s approach to national development.

Sankara, who served as President of Burkina Faso from 1983 to 1987, led one of Africa’s most ambitious experiments in social reform, local production, and people-centered governance. This paper revisits his model and offers practical insights that can guide today’s efforts to design more inclusive, sustainable, and locally driven development strategies.
