Lebanon’s Economy Ministry Meets French Envoy to Discuss IMF Reforms and Donor Plans
BEIRUT (Enmaeya News) – Lebanon’s Minister of Economy and Trade, Amer Bisat, met on Wednesday with Jacques de Lajugie, the economic advisor to the Special Envoy of the French President, to discuss Lebanon’s stalled economic recovery efforts.
Talks focused on progress in negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), planned banking sector reforms, and the timeline for upcoming international donor and investor conferences aimed at supporting Lebanon’s struggling economy.
The two officials also explored the scope of technical assistance France could provide to Lebanon as part of broader international efforts to stabilize the country’s financial system and unlock critical foreign support.
France has played a leading role in rallying donor backing for Lebanon, but major aid remains contingent on the implementation of long-delayed reforms, including restructuring Lebanon’s banking sector and securing an IMF deal.
