Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (Enmaeya News) — BD’s Saudi Arabia branch is ramping up efforts to support the Kingdom’s healthcare transformation, aligning its initiatives with Vision 2030’s national goals, according to Omar Malabarey, general manager for BD Saudi Arabia.

BD, short for Becton, Dickinson and Company, is a global medical technology company headquartered in the United States. It develops and manufactures a wide range of medical supplies, devices, laboratory equipment, and diagnostic products. The company is known for advancing medication management, infection prevention, diagnostic testing, and clinical research tools worldwide.

Malabarey emphasized the importance of the company’s strategic partnerships — particularly with the Saudi Patient Safety Center (SPSC) — and spotlighted several innovative programs launched during the event.

Through a memorandum of understanding with the SPSC, BD has rolled out patient safety initiatives in more than 500 hospitals. The programs aim to reduce medication errors, combat healthcare-associated infections such as central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI), catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI), and surgical site infections (SSI), bolster antimicrobial resistance strategies, and improve clinical workflows and sustainability practices.

“These efforts extend Vision 2030’s objectives by safeguarding both patient and healthcare worker safety via BD’s Signature Programmes,” Malabarey said.

He added that the BD–SPSC partnership represents a long-term commitment to the Kingdom’s evolving health system.

“The partnership will foster a culture of continuous improvement through clinical training, data-driven best practices, and shared expertise,” Malabarey said.

Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 targets include privatizing 290 hospitals and 2,300 primary health centers, raising private-sector participation to 35%, and attracting $12.8 billion in private health investments. Public–private collaborations like BD’s are seen as key to achieving these milestones.

Operating under the theme “Embracing a Value‑Driven Future,” BD’s work in the Kingdom highlights a broader shift toward sustainable, efficient, and technologically advanced healthcare — a transformation driven by innovation, partnership and national alignment.
