Dubai, UAE (Enmaeya News) — A new water technology startup is making waves in the MENA region. Kumulus Water, launched in 2021 by Iheb Triki and Mohamed Ali Abid, has created Atmospheric Water Generators (AWGs) that produce clean drinking water by capturing moisture from the air—without needing existing water or electricity systems.
The company recently raised $3.5 million in seed funding. The round was led by Bpifrance through its France 2030 SGPI program and supported by the Île-de-France Region. Other investors include Plus VC, Khalys Venture, Flat6Labs, bottled-water company Spadel, and several European and North African family offices.
The funding will help launch Kumulus Boks, a new line of industrial-level AWGs, and support the company’s expansion into Tunisia, France, Spain, and soon Saudi Arabia.
“Our goal is to decouple clean water access from centralized infrastructure,” said CEO Iheb Triki. He noted the technology provides a decentralized, sustainable option for communities that need it most.
CTO Mohamed Ali Abid added that after years of development, their AWGs are ready to scale up across dry and water-stressed areas.
Investor feedback has been positive. Plus VC called Kumulus a “regional pioneer” in climate-resilient water solutions. Spadel said the technology’s ability to make water “without packaging or transportation” adds clear sustainability value.
Kumulus Water’s innovation is already being used in schools, hotels, and remote areas in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, showing how this tech is making a real difference on the ground.
The company’s approach puts it at the front of the climate-tech sector, offering practical solutions for areas facing water shortages and poor infrastructure.
