Beirut, Lebanon (Enmaeya News) — The 2025 Sustainable Development Report, published by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network, ranks 167 countries on their progress toward the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The report highlights significant disparities between top-performing countries and those facing severe challenges.

Northern European countries dominated the list, with Finland ranking first, followed by Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and France. These countries excelled in areas such as quality education, gender equality, clean energy, and climate action.

At the other end of the spectrum, countries grappling with conflict, political instability, and economic hardships ranked lowest. South Sudan, Central African Republic, Chad, Somalia, and Yemen were among the bottom ten, struggling with limited access to healthcare, education, and basic infrastructure.

Lebanon ranked 124th out of 167 countries, reflecting ongoing economic and social challenges. The country’s performance indicates difficulties in reducing poverty, improving infrastructure, and ensuring sustainable urban development. Lebanon’s political instability and economic crisis continue to hamper progress on key SDGs.

The report’s findings serve as a critical benchmark for policymakers, investors, and international donors. Countries that perform well tend to attract more sustainable investment and development aid, while lower-ranked nations face greater obstacles in financing and implementing reforms.

Lebanon’s position in the report highlights the urgent need for targeted reforms and increased support to advance sustainable development and improve the quality of life for its population. The report’s findings provide important insights that can inform discussions and decisions in upcoming international development forums.
