New York, United States (Enmaeya News) — On Tuesday, World Youth Skills Day 2025 called attention to the urgent need for equipping young people worldwide with digital and artificial intelligence skills needed for the future workforce.

Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, the day highlights youth skills development as a key to employment, entrepreneurship, and decent work. This year’s theme, “Youth Empowerment through AI and Digital Skills,” reflects the growing importance of technology-driven competencies.

According to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, “Skills are engines of empowerment and opportunity for young people globally.” He emphasized investing in inclusive training programs that bridge the digital divide to ensure no youth is left behind.

Countries and organizations across continents are ramping up efforts to provide accessible training in areas such as data analysis, cybersecurity, machine learning, and digital communication. Initiatives range from government-led skill competitions and innovation hubs to nonprofit programs targeting underserved communities.

For example, several African nations have launched coding bootcamps and AI literacy workshops to prepare youth for jobs in emerging tech sectors. Similarly, European and Middle Eastern countries are integrating digital skills into vocational education curricula.

Despite progress, challenges persist in ensuring equitable access to quality education and overcoming socioeconomic barriers. Experts urge continued collaboration among governments, educators, and the private sector to expand opportunities for youth worldwide.

World Youth Skills Day 2025 serves as a reminder that investing in the next generation’s skills is vital for sustainable development and global economic resilience.
