Tyre, Lebanon (Enmaeya News) — The Ministry of Youth and Sports, in the presence of Minister Nora Bayrakdarian, successfully held the first of four events under its "Sports for All" initiative, with the city of Tyre hosting this major activity to great success.
Minister Bayrakdarian officially launched the “Run for Fun” race, signaling the start of a full day of diverse activities along the street adjacent to the seaside tents across from the Tyre Coastal Nature Reserve, under the careful supervision of municipal and security forces from the early morning hours.
The competitions included street basketball, golf, volleyball, gymnastics, taekwondo, Kyokushin karate, foosball, pétanque, badminton, fencing, tennis, footnet, and traditional Lebanese sports such as jorn and mahdeleh. The program also featured demonstrations by the Lebanese Federation of Power Striking and Self-Defense, and a performance by the Maya School of Art.
In addition, the Lebanese Army delivered a series of exhibitions, while the Malaysian and South Korean UNIFIL contingents each presented separate performances of traditional cultural displays.
Minister Bayrakdarian stated: “Launching the 2025 festival series from the city of Tyre reflects our commitment to reaffirming the return of normal life to this cherished and hopeful city through youth and sports.”
She added: “The participation of sports federations, scouting, and youth organizations sent a clear message of solidarity and support. We also greatly valued the contributions of UNIFIL and the Lebanese Army, both of whom added unique value to the event through their diverse presentations.”
“Our primary goal,” the Minister continued, “is to promote sports through unprecedented activities and to introduce the public to a wide range of disciplines. We, as a ministry, aim to be with the people and among them, while empowering the sports federations to expand their role beyond competition and into communities across the country. I was truly delighted by the enthusiastic engagement of youth from various age groups, and we look forward to seeing everyone in Jounieh.”
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Member of Parliament Inaya Ezzeddine, who praised the exceptional organization by the Ministry’s team, Sports Mania, the Municipality of Tyre, the 16 participating sports federations—each contributing to its respective field—as well as a number of scouting and youth associations.
With the first event of the “Sports for All” festival now complete in Tyre, attention shifts to the second stop in Jounieh on August 17, followed by Aley on August 31, and culminating in Beirut on September 21.
