Beirut, Lebanon (Enmaeya News) — Lebanon is ranked sixth among Arab countries in overall development and technological advancement, maintaining a moderate position regionally and outperforming neighbors like Jordan, Iraq, and Yemen, according to a new report by CEO World Magazine.

Lebanon’s performance reflects a combination of economic, social, and technological factors. Inflation has affected daily life, particularly in education, healthcare, and essential goods.

Social progress indicators, such as Lebanon’s score on the Sustainable Development Goals Index, show ongoing efforts in areas like poverty reduction, education, and public services. The country continues to work on governance improvements and strengthening political and institutional frameworks.

In comparison, the United Arab Emirates leads the Arab world with a score of 90.04, driven by significant investments in research, digital infrastructure, and emerging technologies.

Saudi Arabia follows at 79.39, while other Gulf nations such as Qatar (64.76), Bahrain (63.74), and Oman (59.43) also maintain strong regional positions.

These countries have integrated technology into public services, education, and industry, serving as models for digital transformation in the Arab world.

North African countries such as Egypt (56.46), Sudan (56.43), Libya (55.32), Morocco (53.92), and Algeria (53.77) occupy the mid-range of Arab rankings, showing steady improvements in technology adoption and infrastructure.

Smaller states, including Djibouti (53.46), Somalia (52.11), and Kuwait (52.33), continue to develop their resources and capacities.

At the lower end, Palestine (47.36), Syria (47.18), and Yemen (46.36) face ongoing challenges that affect growth and technological integration.

Technological adoption remains a key differentiator among Arab countries. Lebanon demonstrates potential through startups, academic research, and emerging innovation hubs, even as Gulf nations like the UAE and Saudi Arabia continue to lead in advanced digital infrastructure and research investment.

Lebanon’s position highlights both its resilience and the opportunities ahead. Continued support for innovation, investment in technology, and stable governance can help the country strengthen its regional competitiveness and expand its role as a contributor to technological development in the Arab world, according to CEO World.
