Tripoli, Lebanon (Enmaeya News) —Lebanon is moving closer to a sustainable future with the Green Forward Conference 2025, held at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Tripoli.
The event was organized by the Business Incubation Association in Tripoli, in partnership with Spark and with support from the European Union. It brought together more than 150 participants, including policymakers, business support organizations, entrepreneurs and regional experts.
The conference was part of the Green Forward program, an EU-funded initiative advancing the transition to a green and circular economy in the Southern Neighborhood.
Implemented by Expertise France, Spark and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the program equips business support groups with tools and training to help small and medium-sized enterprises adopt sustainable practices.
In Lebanon, the initiative is expected to deliver several outcomes: 10 memorandums of understanding signed between business groups and local stakeholders, 6 workshops and roundtables, and a practical toolbox to assess sustainability in SMEs.
Thirty SMEs are set to pilot the toolbox, while four business support organizations will receive capacity-building support, including specialized training for three focused on green economy practices.
Panels highlighted the foundations of a green business ecosystem and showcased local success stories. Speakers included former Environment Minister Nasser Yassine, green economy expert Ghada El-Armali, entrepreneur Hasan Youness and innovators such as Omar Itani of FabricAid and Ziad Abi Chaker of Cedar Environmental.
The conference closed with new partnerships and commitments to a national roadmap for green business in Lebanon. By linking policy, entrepreneurship and innovation, Green Forward seeks to align the country’s economic development with the principles of the European Green Deal.
