Beirut, Lebanon (Enmaeya News) — The Arab Youth Environment Forum 2025 has opened, bringing together young changemakers, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) experts and representatives from the UNEP Major Groups and Children and Youth Major Group (CYMG).
The forum, held virtually, aims to prepare youth in the region for engagement in international environmental policy processes, including the upcoming Seventh Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7).
Sessions focus on the “triple planetary crisis” of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution, with special attention to challenges in the Arab region such as land degradation and water scarcity. The program is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to engage in environmental governance and to amplify youth voices in policy discussions.
A key part of the forum is the consultation process for the Arab Youth Environment Manifesto 2025, which outlines regional priorities and policy demands. The manifesto will be submitted to high-level meetings, including the Regional Consultative Meeting for West Asia, the Council of Arab Ministries Responsible for the Environment (CAMRE) and the Global Youth Environment Assembly (G-YEA) at UNEA-7.
