Beirut, Lebanon (Enmaeya News) — The United Nations Development Programme, in partnership with Lebanon’s Ministry of Environment and the Directorate General of Urban Planning, has launched a guidebook aimed at promoting smarter, safer and more sustainable reconstruction efforts across the country.
Funded by the Global Environment Facility, the Guidebook for Post-War Sustainable Land Use Planning provides planners and decision-makers with a roadmap for rebuilding war-affected areas, particularly rural communities. It emphasizes ecological restoration, protection of cultural heritage and equitable access to land and services.
The guidebook is designed as a practical tool for government institutions, municipalities, humanitarian organizations and technical professionals. It aims to prevent unplanned reconstruction and short-term fixes, ensuring that urgent recovery efforts align with long-term sustainable development goals.
