BEIRUT (Enmaeya News) — September 26, 2025
Beirut Port has been ranked 54th globally in the latest World Bank report for 2024, according to the port’s management and investment authority. The ranking, based on the Container Port Performance Index, highlights the port’s growing efficiency and logistical development.
Beirut Port, Lebanon’s main maritime gateway, handles the majority of the country’s imports and exports and serves as a key hub for regional trade. Established in the 19th century, the port has undergone multiple expansions and modernization projects to accommodate larger cargo volumes and improve infrastructure.
This progress comes five years after the August 4, 2020, explosion at Beirut Port, which caused widespread damage to port facilities and surrounding areas. Since then, the port authority has worked on reconstruction and modernization, improving logistics services and operational efficiency.
The report highlights “Beirut Port’s continuous progress in improving its performance and delivering exceptional services to partners and clients.” In 2023, the port ranked 81st, while in 2022 it was 323rd, reflecting significant improvement in recent years. The ranking demonstrates Beirut Port’s ability to advance globally while boosting trade and supporting the national economy.
