UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi announced that the international agency has lost around 5,000 employees since the beginning of the year, amid a significant drop in international funding, according to AFP.

Grandi said at the start of the agency's annual Executive Committee meeting, "Around 5,000 of our colleagues at the UN Refugee Agency have lost their jobs this year, emphasizing that this represents "more than a quarter of our total workforce".
