Arianespace will launch the European satellite Sentinel-1D aboard the Ariane 6 rocket on November 4, providing high-precision, round-the-clock Earth and environmental monitoring, according to TASS.
In a statement, the company said:
"The Sentinel-1D satellite will be launched on November 4 at 18:03 local time (November 5 at 00:03 Moscow time)”.
Sentinel-1D is part of the European Union’s Copernicus environmental monitoring program and will be placed in a sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of 693 kilometers above Earth.
According to Arianespace, the new satellite is equipped with advanced radar instruments and cameras capable of capturing images continuously, in all weather conditions. Its main applications include monitoring sea ice, tracking mountains and glaciers, observing soil erosion, and detecting oil spills.
The Ariane 6 is an upgraded space rocket designed to replace the Ariane 5 and comes in two versions:
Ariane 62 (light version) equipped with two solid boosters, capable of carrying up to 5 tons to orbit.
Ariane 64 (heavy version) equipped with four boosters, capable of lifting up to 10.5 tons of payload.
