LEBANON (Enmaeya News) - October 8, 2025

Waste collection operations in Beirut and Mount Lebanon have come to a halt following the closure of the Jdeideh landfill, according to a statement issued by RAMCO.

The company announced that, as of 4:00 a.m. on October 7, 2025, all waste collection activities have been suspended across the districts of Metn and Keserwan, in addition to the Beirut administrative area.

This suspension is due to the landfill's closure and the pause in waste collection.

RAMCO/Al-Tas-B confirmed that it has officially informed the relevant authorities of the repercussions expected from this forced suspension, including the accumulation of waste in affected areas.

The company emphasized that the halt is beyond its control and that normal operations will resume once the landfill is reopened and waste disposal activities are authorized to continue.

The suspension raises fresh concerns about Lebanon’s waste management crisis, which has repeatedly triggered public frustration and environmental risks.

Without urgent solutions or alternative disposal sites, residents in the affected areas may soon face worsening sanitary and health conditions.
