UNICEF, in partnership with the German Government through KfW Development Bank, is helping Lebanese youth transform their lives by moving from learning to earning and taking on leadership roles, officials said.
The Learning to Earning initiative has equipped thousands of young people with practical skills, literacy, numeracy, and business training.
According to UNICEF, 7,397 youth have so far generated income and accessed job opportunities despite Lebanon’s ongoing economic challenges.
Germany’s support has also enabled youth to engage in community recovery projects, from producing winter kits for displaced families to repairing streets and launching small-scale businesses.
“Investing in youth is not a luxury. Every young person must have the agency and opportunity to shape their own life,” said Marcoluigi Corsi, UNICEF Representative in Lebanon.
The program also includes events such as the Learning to Earning Youth Impact Event, which brings young people into dialogue with policymakers and the private sector, allowing them to contribute directly to solutions for Lebanon’s future.
Uta Simon, Head of Development Cooperation at the German Embassy, emphasized that supporting youth is an investment in Lebanon’s future.
Simon also noted that the decade-long partnership has opened opportunities for thousands of young people across the country.
These initiatives mark a pivotal step towards empowering the Lebanese youth amid economic and social instability in the country.
