Official laboratory analyses have verified that Tannourine water is contaminated, prompting the Ministry of Health to suspend operations of the local water company and recall its products, according to LBCI.

Following complaints and initial field inspections, the Ministry ordered the Tannourine Water Company to stop distribution until further notice.

The company’s entire stock has been withdrawn from circulation pending additional testing, a ministry source said.

The test results, now publicly released, show clear indications of pollutants in multiple samples collected from distribution and source points.

The Ministry cautioned that the levels of contamination exceed acceptable thresholds for public use.

Residents in Tannourine and nearby areas were urged to avoid drinking tap water, even if boiled, until the authorities provide confirmation of safety.

Officials from the Health Ministry emphasized that the suspension is precautionary and temporary.

They explained that further comprehensive tests will determine both the contamination’s origin and scope, and will guide corrective actions, including treatment, infrastructure repairs, or source protection.

The water company in question has not yet issued a public response. However, industry observers note that failing infrastructure, leaks, or upstream pollution sources possible sources of contamination.

As authorities move to contain the crisis, the public is demanding transparency regarding timelines for restoring safe supply and assurances that similar events will be prevented in the future. The Health Ministry has pledged to publish periodic updates throughout the investigation process.
