The Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development has pledged USD 120 million to support Lebanon’s reconstruction, as part of a larger World Bank initiative targeting a USD 1 billion recovery fund, according to LBCI.

Finance Minister Yassine Jaber received the commitment during meetings in Washington with the World Bank, U.S. Treasury officials, and representatives of major Arab and Islamic development funds.

He positioned the Arab Fund’s contribution as a key building block of the broader recovery agenda.

At a session of Arab finance ministers and central bank governors, Jaber stressed Lebanon’s recent legislative and governmental reforms, framing them as essential for launching a formal IMF program.

He indicated that such a program would help unlock additional funding and stabilize the country’s economy.

Still, challenges remain. The success of the reconstruction effort hinges on transparent governance, accountability in project execution, and sustained coordination among the Lebanese government, international donors, and financial institutions.
