Lebanon’s Minister of Emigrants and Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence, Kamal Shehadeh, participated in a high-level panel during the 2025 Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C., alongside several prominent international figures, including Estonia’s Minister of Finance Jürgen Ligi and Greece’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis.

The session focused on digital transformation and artificial intelligence, and their role in promoting sustainable economic growth. Participants exchanged experiences and strategies on how to integrate digital technologies and AI into national policies to foster innovation and achieve inclusive development.

During his intervention, Shehadeh emphasized the importance of international partnerships and knowledge transfer to support Lebanon’s digital transformation and build a knowledge- and innovation-based economy. He highlighted the role of modern technologies in enhancing the competitiveness of national economies and opening new avenues for sustainable growth, while ensuring the inclusion of youth and local talent in digital sectors.

Shehadeh also affirmed that Lebanon possesses the necessary expertise for digital transformation, which has already been recognized internationally. He stressed that strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors, along with the Lebanese diaspora, is a key element in driving digital progress and represents an opportunity to develop an innovative and sustainable economic environment capable of competing regionally and globally.

The session concluded by emphasizing that Lebanon’s participation in these meetings reflects the country’s commitment to engaging with global expertise and leveraging technology and artificial intelligence as effective tools to enhance economic and social development, while fostering an environment conducive to innovation and entrepreneurship.
