The Association of Public Administration Employees has called for a full strike across all government departments and official institutions on Thursday, October 23, to advance public sector rights.

In a statement, the association said it had allowed the government a “grace period” to address the legitimate demands of public employees but that the deadline had expired without action.

As a result, it is organizing a complete strike in coordination with a press conference convened by the Federation of Public Sector Unions. That conference will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Dokkaneh Hotel building in Dekwaneh.

The statement characterizes the current situation as “a systematic effort to weaken the public sector and starve its employees.”

The strike call urges “full compliance” by all public workers and their active attendance at Thursday’s press event, stressing that the work stoppage is not a “luxury or choice” but a cry for dignity and justice. “Our patience has reached its limit,” the statement adds.

Earlier this month, the Public Sector Unions collective announced a “warning strike” for the same day, pointing to severe wage decrease and the recent increase in mandatory pension deductions from 6 % to 8%, according to the National News Agency.

The Thursday strike will test the government’s response to mounting pressure from public servants and retirees, particularly as state institutions already struggle under economic strain.
