LEBANON (Enmaeya News) - October 20, 2025

YAZA has launched a new road safety campaign titled “Over Time”, inspired by the tragic death of Mr. Tony Khoury on September 1, 2024, following a fatal traffic accident while crossing the street.

The video begins with Tony Khoury’s own voice, expressing his wish to live longer, achieve his dreams, continue his life, and witness the future… but a single moment took everything away. The message is then reinforced by actor George Khabbaz, delivering YAZA’s strong call to all Lebanese: Life is not a game… Roads are not a place for chaos and recklessness… Every second of life has value… Every second of awareness can save a life.

YAZA emphasized that “Tony was not reckless; he did not choose to leave. He was walking like any of us, only to be surprised that speed and negligence stole his life. This is not just a tragedy; it is a wake-up call to a society that neglects the lives of its citizens”.

Through the campaign, YAZA called for an end to road deaths and recklessness, stating: Enough of innocent lives lost on the roads. Enough disregard for the law and the safety of others.

The organization urged the Lebanese state, the Internal Security Forces leadership, and the Ministries of Interior and Public Works to:

Strictly enforce laws against all violators without leniency.

Pursue all unlicensed and illegal motorcycles, which have become deadly weapons.

Ensure safe pedestrian crossings and regulate vehicle and motorcycle traffic.

Mandate road safety education in all schools and private institutions.

Hold accountable anyone who kills or injures an innocent person on the road, without any leniency.
