LEBANON (Enmaeya News) - October 21, 2025
Roughly 18% of Lebanon’s population, about 700,000 people, are expected to struggle with food insecurity this month, according to the World Food Program (WFP) September 2025 Factsheet.
The figure marks an increase from June 2025, when 15% of the population was identified as at risk of food insecurity.
WFP attributes the deterioration to steep cuts in funding, with food aid coverage falling nearly 45% year-on-year.
WFP and FAO 2025 assessments show signs of fragile recovery: about 1.17 million people are classified as experiencing “crisis or emergency” levels of food insecurity.
The damage to agricultural infrastructure, high inflation, and insufficient humanitarian resources compound the crisis.
WFP says that continued support and coordinated interventions across social safety nets, government systems, and local communities will be critical to prevent further deterioration.
With limited resources and declining donor support, Lebanon is on a fragile trajectory that risks pushing more families into food insecurity.
