LEBANON (Enmaeya News) - October 23, 2025
Lebanese University officials were arrested and an investigation opened Wednesday into the alleged forgery of exam booklets and manipulation of grades at the university’s Faculty of Law and Political Science, Branch I, according to MTV.
Acting on orders from Mount Lebanon Appeals Prosecutor Sami Sader, State Security detained the former branch director, Mojtaba Mortada, and the branch’s active secretary, Tarek Bakri, along with several individuals believed to have benefited from the grade manipulation scheme.
Investigators plan to question staff members who entered grades into the “Banner” system, both at undergraduate and master’s levels, as well as beneficiaries of the alleged manipulation, including Fadi Abou Dayya.
The case has drawn attention to systemic vulnerabilities in the university’s grading system. Authorities say the probe is now entering a critical phase, with further detentions and interrogations expected.
No formal statement has yet been released by university administrators or judicial authorities. As the investigation unfolds, questions remain about how widespread the manipulation was and which officials may be implicated next.
