The Litani River Authority has filed a legal complaint with the Public Prosecution against Muwaffaq Al-Khader for establishing a Syrian refugee camp on land adjacent to the Litani River in Houch al-Harimeh, located in the Bekaa Valley.

The complaint alleges that the camp has diverted the river's course, transforming it into a dumping ground for waste and sewage, thereby violating environmental and legal standards.

According to the Litani River Authority, the construction of the camp and the subsequent diversion of the river have led to direct pollution of the Litani River, posing significant risks to public health and the environment.

The Authority has called for immediate legal action to halt these activities and to restore the river's natural course.

The Authority has emphasized that any delay in vacating the site will be considered a clear violation of the law, subjecting the responsible parties to legal prosecution and mandatory removal at their own expense, including the costs of cleanup.

This legal move underscores the ongoing efforts by the Litani River Authority to protect Lebanon's water resources and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
