As part of his open-field policy and direct communication approach with farmers, Minister of Agriculture Nizar Hani toured several towns in North Bekaa.
The visit included honorary stops, field inspections, and follow-up on agricultural and development projects—reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to supporting Lebanese farmers and strengthening their resilience against economic and climate challenges.
The minister’s field tour covered Jdeidet Al-Fakiha, Al-Qaa, and Ras Baalbek, where he met with farmers in the presence of municipal heads. He listened to their main concerns, from marketing difficulties to irrigation issues and rising production costs.
Minister Hani emphasized that “the Ministry of Agriculture’s policy is built on real partnership with farmers,” adding that “sustainable solutions are not created in offices, but in the fields, through direct interaction with those who work the land and produce.”
He continued, “Agriculture in North Bekaa is not merely an economic sector—it is a symbol of the people’s steadfastness and connection to their land. The Ministry of Agriculture will always stand by them with guidance, support, and assistance.”
The minister also visited the Sustainable Agricultural Development Cooperative Nursery in Ras Baalbek and its neighboring areas, where he reviewed the major efforts to produce high-quality local seedlings and support both rainfed and irrigated crops.
He praised the cooperative’s role in promoting sustainable farming practices and preserving local agricultural diversity, noting that “this model of cooperatives represents a cornerstone for productive and environmentally responsible agriculture.”
Hani further called for greater support and expansion of such initiatives across all Lebanese regions.
He also stressed that “registration constitutes the true gateway to any fair and transparent agricultural policy,” highlighting that reaching farmers in every village and town is a national priority to ensure equity in aid distribution and the implementation of development projects.
Concluding his remarks, Minister Hani stated: “Agriculture in North Bekaa is the beating heart of Lebanon’s food security. The ministry will remain by the farmers’ side, step by step—to turn challenges into opportunities and build an agricultural sector capable of production, competitiveness, and sustainability.”
