Lebanon (Enmaeya News) – November 6, 2025

The Agricultural Service in Akkar, in cooperation with the Municipality of Kawashra, carried out this environmental initiative, which involved releasing ten geese into the lake.

The initiative comes within the framework of ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Lebanese Army – First Land Border Regiment, and in line with efforts to protect waterfowl and preserve biodiversity.

These birds had previously been confiscated by the Lebanese Army – First Land Border Regiment due to a legal violation involving the illegal possession of protected wild birds. They were handed over to the Ministry of Agriculture, which took care of and rehabilitated them in its facilities until they were confirmed to be fully ready to return to their natural habitat.

This step is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to protect wildlife and promote biodiversity, in collaboration with various security agencies, municipalities, and environmental organizations, and in implementation of existing laws prohibiting the hunting or capture of wild and aquatic birds.

Through such initiatives, the Ministry of Agriculture reaffirms its commitment to supporting ecosystems and protecting animal and bird species across Lebanon, while emphasizing the importance of cooperation between official entities and local communities to ensure the sustainability of natural diversity and maintain environmental balance.
