Minister Lahoud declared the “temporary closure of the Jeita Grotto tourist site,” noting that “a committee of experts — including a representative from the Lebanese Caving Club — has been formed to inspect and determine any harm that may have affected the grotto’s features as a result of remnants left from the aforementioned wedding event.”

In a radio interview, she pledged to “place all the resources of the Ministry of Tourism’s departments at the service of the ongoing investigation, in line with the decision of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam,” emphasizing that “the strictest legal and administrative measures will be taken against those responsible and in violation, in order to protect this national tourist landmark and safeguard the rights of the state and the Lebanese people.”

She also pointed to “accelerating efforts to finalize the terms of reference governing the management and use of local touristic and archaeological sites”.
