LEBANON (Enmaeya News) - November 7, 2025
Lebanon’s First Lady, Nehmat Aoun, has launched a new national program called the “School of Citizenship”, aiming to teach students about civic values and strengthen the relationship between citizens and the state.
The initiative is part of a larger project known as “Generation of Citizens”, which seeks to encourage young people to take an active role in their communities and understand their rights and responsibilities as citizens.
The School of Citizenship will begin in 150 schools across Lebanon during the 2025-2026 academic year. It will include both public and private schools from different regions, ensuring that students from various backgrounds can take part.
The program was developed in cooperation with the Center for Educational Research and Development (CRDP) and several educational and social organizations.
It will focus on teaching key civic concepts such as community service, respect for diversity, and active participation in public life.
During the launch event, First Lady Nehmat Aoun said in her opening speech that the goal is to “build a new generation that understands citizenship not only as a right but as a duty.”
She emphasized that education plays a major role in restoring national unity and rebuilding trust between the people and the government.
Teachers taking part in the project will receive special training to help them deliver the new lessons effectively. Educational materials and activities will also be adapted to suit different age groups.
Officials hope the program will help promote tolerance, cooperation, and responsibility among students — values seen as essential for Lebanon’s future stability and development.
