The Lebanese American University (LAU) has launched the VEX Robotics Lebanon program in partnership with Middle East Technologies (METECH), VEX Robotics, and the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation.

According to the National News Agency, the initiative aims to train teachers, engage faculty members as mentors and judges, and prepare students to participate in national competitions that qualify for the VEX Robotics World Championship, recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest online robotics contest.

The signing ceremony, held at LAU’s Jbeil campus, was attended by Minister of Emigrants and Minister of State for Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence Dr. Kamal Shehadeh, LAU President Dr. Shawqi Abdullah, Academic Vice President Dr. George Nasr, Dean of Engineering Dr. Michel Khoury, representatives of partner institutions, faculty members, students, and other stakeholders.

Minister Shehadeh described the program as a “vital investment in Lebanon’s youth.”

“I believe we have an exceptionally talented and creative generation,” he said. “Every time I meet young men and women, they remind me why we do what we do, giving us hope for the future.”

The VEX Robotics Lebanon program marks a significant step toward strengthening STEM education and innovation in the country, fostering a new generation of Lebanese students equipped with the skills and creativity to compete on a global stage.
