In a landmark environmental effort, the SWIM Initiative, in partnership with the Lebanese Civil Defense and in collaboration with Virgin Radio Lebanon and Calypso Dive Center, carried out a large-scale cleanup across the beaches, cliffs, and underwater caves of Raouché Bay, one of Lebanon’s most iconic natural landmarks.

The operation marked the first coordinated cleanup spanning land, sea, and cliff zones in the Raouché area, a popular tourist destination known for its Pigeon Rocks and rugged coastal terrain.

Equipped with advanced safety gear, Lebanese Civil Defense teams rappelled down the cliffs to remove accumulated waste that had been inaccessible for years. Simultaneously, SWIM Initiative volunteers collected litter and debris along the shoreline, while Calypso Dive Center divers tackled underwater pollution within the bay’s caves.

The cleanup aligns with ongoing efforts by environmental groups to combat rising pollution levels along Lebanon’s coastline, where plastic waste, sewage, and neglect have taken a toll on marine life and tourism.
