The KHUTA - Job Search Club program, launched by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Lebanon, aims to address the country’s acute youth unemployment crisis by equipping young people with practical job-seeking skills.

The initiative targets unemployed Lebanese and Syrian youth aged 18 to 35 and operates across 17 centres in Beirut, Mount Lebanon, North Lebanon, and the Bekaa region.

KHUTA provides a ten-day intensive training course that helps participants craft effective CVs and cover letters, practice interviews, and develop networking skills with potential employers.

After the training, participants receive mentorship and, for select candidates, apprenticeship placements to gain hands-on experience in the workforce.

The programme comes amid a critical labour-market situation. According to the ILO, youth unemployment in Lebanon reached approximately 47.8 % in 2022, the highest in the Arab region.

The prolonged economic crisis, structural disruptions, and mismatches between available skills and employer needs have compounded the crisis, leaving many young people underemployed or unemployed.

In collaboration with local partners such as INJAZ Lebanon and support from the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the ILO says KHUTA is designed to enhance employability, facilitate entry into the labour market, and reduce the outflow of talent from Lebanon.

KHUTA represents a targeted, practical step to improve the prospects of young job seekers in one of the region’s most strained labour markets.
