LEBANON (Enmaeya News) - November 14, 2025
The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) announced it has raised its coverage ceiling for medical supplies to 90% of the cost, aligning it with the coverage level already applied to medications and hospitalisation.
In a formal statement, NSSF Director Mohammad Karaki said the move marks a “resumption of coverage for medical supplies” after the fund’s benefits had been eroded during the country’s financial crisis.
According to the fund, the improved coverage applies to all insured members in contracted hospitals and covers a wide range of medical implants, from orthopedics and cardiology to gynecology and digestive treatments, provided supplies are approved in advance through the NSSF’s medical-control unit.
Karaki emphasised that hospitals under contract will now be reimbursed at the new rate, and a regularly updated list of approved medical supplies and pricing will be published quarterly.
The surge in coverage is a critical relief for Lebanese patients who had faced heavy payments as the local currency collapsed and public services deteriorated following the 2019 economic meltdown.
The NSSF said this adjustment is part of its broader goal to restore all health benefits to pre-crisis levels by the end of 2025.
As Lebanon continues to grapple with fiscal constraints and systemic healthcare challenges, the decision by the NSSF signals a step towards stabilising coverage for essential medical services, offering insured citizens a measure of financial relief in a highly volatile environment.
