LEBANON (Enmaeya News) – November 14, 2025
The Ministry of Tourism announced that it received the final report of the Jeita Grotto Damage Assessment Committee on November 13, 2025, following the on-site inspection conducted after the October 30 event held inside the cave.
According to the Ministry, the committee reported no mechanical, geological, or environmental damage, confirming that the subterranean ecosystem remains stable.
The Ministry commended the committee and the experts involved for developing a set of technical recommendations to regulate any future activities inside the grotto. These include the establishment of a continuous scientific monitoring system and strict controls on sound levels, as well as on the nature and frequency of events.
The recommendations will be integrated into the Ministry’s guidelines to the Jeita Municipality and into the terms of reference for selecting the new site operator.
The Ministry also reiterated that any musical or entertainment activity inside Jeita Grotto is strictly prohibited without prior written approval, in line with government directives requiring necessary permits for the use of public and national heritage sites.
It clarified that the temporary closure of the grotto was a precautionary measure needed to complete the inspection process. The Ministry announced that Jeita Grotto will reopen to visitors starting Saturday, November 15, 2025, reaffirming its commitment to a transparent and science-based approach in managing natural sites and protecting this unique national treasure for future generations.
