Energy ministers from Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria held a meeting in Amman on Thursday to revive long-stalled interconnection projects across electricity and gas networks.

Lebanon’s Minister of Energy and Water, Joe Saddi, met with Jordan’s Saleh al‑Kharabsheh and Syria’s Mohammad Bashir to discuss rehabilitating electricity transmission lines and reactivating the Arab Gas Pipeline.

Minister Saddi described the meeting as “part of ongoing dialogue and cooperation with our neighbouring states,” calling the projects “strategic and essential” for strengthening Arab economic integration and future development.

The Syrian minister stressed the country’s strategic role as a geographic link between Jordan and Lebanon, calling for sustained coordination to restore the damaged infrastructure in line with technical standards.

Jordan reaffirmed its readiness to supply both Lebanon and Syria with part of their energy needs, once the interconnection lines are upgraded.

The three countries agreed to form joint technical teams to assess the current condition of power and gas lines, propose upgrades, and monitor the rehabilitation process.

Jordanian officials also said they are coordinating with donors such as the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development and the World Bank to finance the work.
