WORLD (Enmaeya News) – December 1, 2025

OpenAI has announced that the data of some ChatGPT users was compromised due to a vulnerability in a third-party service used for data analytics (Mixpanel) on November 9. The breach exposed information including usernames, email addresses, geographic locations, browser types, and operating systems. However, OpenAI’s internal systems, chat content, payment data, passwords, and API keys were not affected.

The company confirmed that it has launched a comprehensive security investigation and removed Mixpanel from its production services. Users were also warned of potential phishing and social engineering attacks. OpenAI pledged to conduct extensive security reviews and strengthen security requirements for all partners and vendors.

This incident marks the latest security challenge faced by OpenAI since the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022, following previous incidents that involved data leaks affecting some users.
