LEBANON (Enmaeya News) - December 8, 2025

Lebanon’s Directorate General of Customs announced that it has uncovered a major forgery operation involving fake protein supplements marketed to consumers as imported dietary products.

In a statement, the Directorate said the operation was discovered following detailed monitoring and investigations into fraudulent products being promoted as protein supplements.

As a result of close coordination between the Chtoura Customs Unit and the Sidon Customs Unit, authorities were able to identify the location of the forgery operation in the Chtoura area.

A patrol from the Chtoura Customs Unit subsequently raided the site, where it seized equipment and materials used in the falsification process. The individual responsible for the operation was detained and taken to the Customs center for questioning, with legal procedures carried out under the supervision of the competent judicial authorities.

Investigations revealed that the suspect had sold large quantities of the fake products to consumers via social media platforms, falsely advertising them as imported protein supplements.

Laboratory findings showed that the products were in fact a mixture of starch, sugar, and cocoa, with no nutritional protein value.

According to MTV, customs authorities confirmed that all legal measures have been taken in accordance with applicable laws, warning consumers against purchasing dietary supplements from unverified sources and stressing the importance of ensuring product authenticity to protect public health.
