On Thursday, Time Magazine named the “Architects of AI” as its 2025 Person of the Year, recognizing the technology leaders driving rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and reshaping global dynamics.

The title was awarded collectively to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and xAI founder Elon Musk, three figures the magazine says stand at the center of a technological wave transforming economies, politics, and daily life.

In its announcement, Time said the trio has “grabbed the wheel of history,” developing tools that are redefining the information ecosystem and influencing sectors from climate science to global security.

Their innovations, the magazine noted, have pushed AI from a specialized field into a mainstream force with far-reaching implications.

According to Time, the influence of these leaders extends well beyond Silicon Valley. Their companies’ breakthroughs have prompted governments to rewrite technology policies, intensified geopolitical rivalries over AI dominance, and accelerated the integration of robotics and automation into homes and workplaces.

The magazine described artificial intelligence as “arguably the most consequential tool in great-power competition since the advent of nuclear weapons,” underscoring concerns among policymakers about its strategic impact.
