Lebanese authorities announced Thursday the arrest of a man impersonating a cosmetic doctor in Hazmieh, east of Beirut, as part of a wider crackdown on illegal aesthetic practices.
The suspect, identified by the initials A.K., is accused of performing dozens of procedures, including Botox and filler injections, using counterfeit and falsified medical products, the State Security said in a statement.
During the ongoing investigation, authorities also arrested another Lebanese man, A.H., following a raid on his home in Raml al-Aali, near the Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport road, according to L'Orient Today.
Security forces confiscated authentic German cosmetic product stickers, which A.H. allegedly used to falsify cosmetic preparations, along with war weapons.
The arrests prompted the closure of several beauty centers in Beirut and its suburbs, including one in Mrayjeh, as security forces continue inspections to identify illegal aesthetic operations.
The State Security emphasized that such illegal practices pose serious risks to public health and warned citizens against seeking cosmetic procedures from unlicensed providers.
Authorities are investigating whether the suspects collaborated with others and are examining the source and distribution networks of the counterfeit products.
The crackdown highlights growing concerns in Lebanon over unregulated aesthetic clinics and the potential dangers posed by unlicensed practitioners in the cosmetic industry.
