LEBANON (Enmaeya News) - December 13, 2025

Lebanon’s Minister of Public Works and Transport, Faez Rassamni, announced the launch of a comprehensive executive plan to address safety and infrastructure issues on Dahr Al-Baydar Road.

The plan is designed as a phased short- and long-term approach aimed at enhancing traffic safety along this vital corridor, pending the completion of the Arab Highway project in coordination with the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR).

Minister Rassamni explained that the initiative follows a series of preparatory meetings, including an internal technical session with ministry teams to assess current conditions and set intervention priorities.

A consultative meeting was also held with a delegation from the Union of Municipalities of Western Central Bekaa and representatives from Zahle’s municipalities to review field demands and strengthen coordination with local authorities.

The plan features two parallel tracks. The short-term track involves urgent measures to improve road safety, including enhanced lighting, installation of road dividers, improved land planning, reflective markers, and localized road rehabilitation.

This phase is scheduled to be completed before the summer of 2026 to reduce risks for road users.

The long-term track focuses on completing the Arab Highway project, with funding arrangements pending at the CDR, aiming to provide a sustainable, permanent solution for this strategic route.

Minister Rassamni emphasized that the plan, in both phases, requires multi-million-dollar investments and will be implemented gradually, prioritizing public safety while maintaining full transparency in execution.

He concluded by assuring that the Ministry of Public Works and Transport will continue to oversee the project until all phases are completed, enhancing road safety through institutional coordination and strengthening the state’s active role in serving citizens.
