Minister of Technology and Artificial Intelligence Kamal Shehadeh announced the signing of an agreement with Microsoft to support Lebanese startups and provide specialized AI training.
President Joseph Aoun received Minister Shehadeh and Naim Yazbeck, President of Microsoft for the Middle East and Africa, at the presidential palace in Baabda.
During the meeting, President Aoun was briefed on Lebanon’s artificial intelligence initiatives, as Minister Shehadeh updated him on the progress of the ministry’s AI-based plan aimed at rebuilding trust between Lebanon and technology companies.
The minister expressed hope that Microsoft offices would reopen in Beirut in the near future, signaling renewed confidence from major tech firms in the country.
Yazbeck described the partnership as marking a “new phase of engagement and confidence-building” in Lebanon. He noted that the agreement will benefit both public and private sectors, providing AI training programs and supporting the growth of startups across the country.
Minister Shehadeh said the ministry’s AI strategy focuses on innovation, workforce development, and creating a supportive environment for technology companies operating in Lebanon.
The collaboration with Microsoft is part of broader efforts to position Lebanon as a regional hub for AI and technology while equipping professionals with skills to compete globally.
The partnership is expected to strengthen Lebanon’s tech ecosystem, foster entrepreneurship, and restore international confidence in the country’s technology sector.
