LEBANON - Colombian Ambassador Edwin Osto Us Alfonso visited the Ehden Nature Reserve, beginning his tour at the reserve’s headquarters near Nabeh Joueit.

During the visit, the reserve’s director, Engineer Sandra Kosa Saba, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Colombia’s National Natural Parks Authority, which will also be signed by the Colombian director.

Kosa noted that “this agreement comes after two years of dialogue and coordination and marks a significant milestone for the Ehden Nature Reserve,” emphasizing the “size and importance of Colombia’s natural parks.”

The MoU aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in biodiversity conservation, sustainable management of protected areas, and institutional capacity building.

Key areas of collaboration include integrated management of protected areas, sustainable and eco-tourism, governance of national parks, and ecosystem and biodiversity management.

The agreement also reflects the diplomatic support provided by the Colombian Embassy to enhance institutional ties between the two countries’ environmental agencies and identify strategic areas for joint work.
