LEBANON – The Ministry of Agriculture has denied recent reports of a new disease outbreak among cattle in Ali Al-Nahri, Bekaa, following a rapid field investigation ordered by Agriculture Minister Dr. Nizar Hani.

Specialized technical teams conducted an immediate and comprehensive inspection of the affected farms. Results confirmed that no new epidemic disease is present, and no cattle deaths were recorded.

The animals shown in the circulated photos are recovering from a previous foot-and-mouth disease infection, exhibiting minor skin symptoms that are part of the normal healing process.

During the inspection, authorities also identified several violations and took legal action against offenders to ensure compliance with health standards and protect livestock.

The ministry expressed its gratitude to the Bekaa Governor and security forces for their prompt response and cooperation in monitoring the situation and addressing violations, ensuring the safety of Lebanon’s agricultural sector and food security.

The Ministry of Agriculture stressed that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and transparently. It urged citizens and media outlets to rely on official sources of information and avoid spreading rumors that could harm the agricultural sector or cause unnecessary public concern.

Minister Hani reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to protecting animal health and food security, maintaining the stability of the agricultural sector, and reinforcing trust among farmers and the public alike.
