International Medical Experts Gather at BAU to Bridge Knowledge and Practice

LEBANON – Beirut Arab University’s Faculty of Medicine held a two-day international conference titled “Advances in Medicine: Linking Knowledge and Practice”. It was under the patronage of the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Rakan Nassereddine, represented by Dr. Samar Al-Haj, and attended by Dr. Ammar Al-Houry, Chairman of BAU’s Board of Trustees, University President Prof. Wael Nabil Abdul Salam, hospital and medical center representatives, deans, physicians, and students.

The conference featured 38 speakers and 18 moderators from Lebanon, Egypt, France, and Germany, representing institutions including Beirut Arab University, Alexandria University, American University of Beirut, Lebanese University, Lebanese American University, University of Balamand, Al-Maqassed Hospital, Sahel Hospital, BAU Medical Center, American University Hospital, Clemenceau Medical Center, Mazloum Hospital, Al-Manla Hospital, Hammoud Hospital, and Ludwig-Maximilian University.

Six workshops were held for interns and specialist doctors, covering topics such as Intercostal Tube (Chest Tube) Insertion, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Emergency Trauma Life Support, Cast Application, and Basics of Laparoscopic Surgery.

Dr. Samar Al-Haj stated: “These developments are particularly significant in Lebanon. Despite ongoing challenges, the healthcare sector continues to demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and scientific excellence. The Ministry is committed to supporting this progress by expanding primary healthcare, enhancing hospital coverage, increasing drug availability nearly fourfold, reforming the health system, and promoting digital transformation to improve efficiency and transparency.”

Topics included bariatric surgery, anti-aging medicine, dermatology updates, surgical advancements (general, orthopedic, urology, neurosurgery, cosmetic, thoracic, and cardiac), reproductive medicine, pediatrics, ophthalmology, and internal medicine.
